Break out the tissues and get ready for the long-awaited return of the legendary Dirty South. After being holed up in his studio for what seems like an eternity, the incredibly talented and forward-thinking producer has finally graced the world with his grand opus, With You. Conceptualized as the soundtrack to a short film, which is also written and directed by Dirty South, With You tells a uniquely beautiful love story even without the visual accompaniment—like Pink Floyd’s The Wall for a new generation. From the moment it begins with “Run Run Run ft. Kids Without Instruments,” the album is filled with emotion and detailed production, reaching its poignant climax and resolution during songs like “With You ft. FMLYBND” and “Unbreakable ft. Sam Martin.” Along with a host of fantastic vocalist collaborators, Dirty South has completely transcended the boundaries of what people have come to expect from electronic music. With his album, Dirty South has singlehandedly renewed my belief that electronic music is far more than just bass and untz; it is (or can be) an art form just like any other genre of music, and a powerful art form at that. Do yourself a favor and purchase the album (and movie) from iTunes. And while you’re at it, take a peek at the short film too. As always, enjoy!
Disclaimer: Apparently Dirty South doesn’t want his new album blogged about as there is no way of embedding the entire thing (believe me, I tried). In any case, here’s a little sampler. Guess you’ll just have to buy the album (believe me, it’s worth it).
