One of my favorite things in the world is to come across really great, unique music (of any kind) that avoids conventionality and speaks to the soul. That’s why I was pumped to come across the somewhat enigmatic, but very talented German producer Baq5 (aka Fabian Imbri). Combining an eclectic mix of genre influences—progressive, smooth jazz, disco, electro, and house—his debut album Times Like This is a so flawlessly put together and produced, you will definitely keep going back for more. With varied styles and tempos, each song has its own unique vibe with some being more sultry and sexy, and others being more suited to a disco club. The opening track “Until We Meet Again,” features an incredibly smooth saxophone over a pulsing house beat that makes you feel like you just stepped into some dark, underground lounge. This in contrast to more bumping track like “With You” and “Android 52” that pick up the tempo and get the party started. Show your support by purchasing the album on Bandcamp, but most importantly spread the word and enjoy!
